The Gippsland regions (East and West Gippsland) are a major horticultural producer of apples, mixed salads and vegetables including tomatoes, eggplants, potatoes, lettuces, asparagus, sweet corn, beans, broccoli and many others.
- 5000-6000 Workers are required throughout the year to grow, harvest and pack the products grown in Gippsland including up to 3000 Seasonal Workers
About the region:
- Gippsland produces 27% of Victoria's vegetables
- Seed corn grown in the region is exported to 40 different countries and is an important part of global seed supply.
- Approximately 80 per cent of Australian Sugar Snap Peas and Snow Peas are packed in Gippsland.
- More than 90 per cent of Australian asparagus is grown in Koo Wee Rup (Cardinia)
